Dry Needling
What is Dry Needling?

dryneedle.jpg
Integrated Dry Needling(TM) uses very thin filament needles to stimulate certain soft tissues of the body. This stimulation triggers a healing response in the soft tissues that result in a decrease in pain and a restoration of normal physiologic and biomechanical properties of the body. Soft tissues that can be targeted are: muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments to name a few. This treatment is very effective in promoting a more rapid healing response in the body.

Electronic stimulation can also be added to the thin filaments for an additional layer of healing response. This works great to help control pain in the body.

Is this Acupuncture?

This is not Acupuncture.  Although, we use similar needles to stimulate the body, our target goal is different.  Our target goal in Dry Needling is the restoration of normal physiologic function of the soft tissue that is injured or damaged.  By precise stimulation of certain anatomical soft tissue areas, the outcome is to promote a natural healing mechanisms in the body.

What does Dry Needling treat?

Simply put, Dry Needling is very helpful in controlling muscular and joint pain in the body. One on the most common sources of pain in the body is due to abnormal physiology and mechanics of the soft tissue in our bodies.  We go through various physical traumas in our lifetime which result in altered physiology in the muscle and joints.  In otherwords, tightness and stiffness that we experience is a result of these altered soft tissues.  Dry needling helps restore normal tension and physiology resulting in a decrease in pain in the body.

Integrated Dry Needling is based on the work of Dr. Yun-Tao Ma, founder of the American Dry Needling Institute.  Dr. Ma is also a published author on the subject and educator around the world promoting and teaching this remarkable technique.
